MOUNTAIN VIEW COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (CDC)

The Mountain View Community Development Council (Mountain View CDC), works in the Mountain View area, an inner-city community of Kingston, Jamaica. Currently under the leadership of President, Mr. Milton Tomlinson, and supported by a dedicated team, Mountain View CDC recognizes that the youth in Mountain View are the greatest asset to bringing about sustained peace in an often volatile area. In the effort to promote and maintain said peace, the Mountain View CDC has worked alongside organizations such as: the Peace Management Initiative, Social Development Commission, Excelsior Community College, and the Citizen Security and Justice Programme.

Mountain View CDC seeks to engage its target youth by creating equal access to income-generating opportunities. Recognizing that many of the youth are faced with unemployment and need income to support themselves and their families, Mountain View CDC has made building the business development and entrepreneurship capacity of young men and women in areas such as oriental fish farming, music production and recording, jewelry-making, cosmetology and agriculture, a priority.
